1. Largest security budget for an Olympics Games
As of December 2010, the total security budget for London 2012 stood at £838 million ($1.35 billion). It is anticipated that the total spent will far exceed this amount.
2. Most Olympic drug tests planned
Organisers are planning 5,000 individual anti-doping tests over the duration of the games, the most in Olympic history.
3. Most expensive Olympic logo
Costing £400,000 ($645,645), the logo for London 2012 has divided opinion.
Designed by brand consultants Wolff Olins, it was described as edgy, dynamic and vibrant by Games organizers.
4. Most bird boxes at an Olympic Park
The Olympic Park in Stratford has 525 bird boxes installed as part of the Games organizers’ commitment to stage an environmentally sustainable event. There are also 150 bat boxes plus a number of artificial otter holts.
5. First Olympic inclusion of Women’s Boxing
London 2012 will mark the first time that Women’s Boxing will have been in included in the Summer Olympic Games programme. Female athletes will compete at three weights, Flyweight (48-51kg), Lightweight (56-60kg) and Middleweight (69-75kg).
